About us

Our vision and goal

A small gesture with good intention as a step to a better society
shall, when followed by many create a bright path towards our destiny

Our goal is to give a push to new development projects so it will get strong enough to stand on its own feet. This could be the announcement of such a project by developing a website, giving aid supply to participate by giving independent financial support. ‘The school in the jungle’ is a good example of what we do.

With our project we even hope more to be a stimulant to others creating their own ideas and plans to participate in the development processes for the disadvantaged in our global community.

Preparing our charity walk 2010, the slogan ‘one step for charity’ was born. The concept of one step for charity is that every small gesture of goodwill, used as a well-considered step, will create a path to a better community.

‘One step for charity’ is a personal initiative based on friendship and mutual trust. With financial support from families and small businesses we can realize our goal and vision.

For the moment we are not able to function as a registered organization. Our collective is too small for this. The costs will rise so high, that nothing remains of the financial collections.

Who are we

We represent everyone who participates in One step for charity (Een stap in de goede richting). While traveling the past ten years I have seen and experienced  wonderful things. Provided with a proper shelter, food, clean water and a good education I feel like the happiest person on the world. Something I wish for everyone to have. Unfortunately we met many people living a disadvantaged life. The stories told by those, touched us and others deep.

Of course we enjoy our travels, but it is impossible to be blind to the suffering in the many cracks of our global society. So why not when visiting a country leaving a positive example by simply offering a listening ear to the story of an underprivileged and tell it to the world that seems so far away; passing knowledge to young people who do not have the money for a proper education; playing with kids on the street to let them forget that they are living to young an adult life or actively participate in charity work, physically or financially, and so on, and so on.
